SINGAPORE BOTANICAL GARDENS

Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore and a keen naturalist, set up the first Botanic Garden on Government Hill at Fort Canning in 1822 mainly to introduce into cultivation economic crops such as nutmeg, clove and cocoa. This Garden was closed in 1829.

The Gardens at its present site was founded in 1859 by an Agri-Horticultural Society, and was later handed over to the government for maintenance. From an ornamental garden with roads, terraces, a bandstand and even a small zoo, it has come a long way in evolving into a leading equatorial botanic garden of 63 hectares.

The 150-year old Singapore Botanic Gardens is a star visitor attraction for the sophisticated traveller as well as the local resident. This Gardens possesses an array of botanical and horticultural attractions with a rich history and a wonderful plant collection of worldwide significance. Complementing these unique resources are sensitive developments providing visitors educational and recreational facilities.

This forest is located in the middle of town. This small forest is right next to Gleneagles hospital. Singapore Botanic Gardens has a fairly complete collection of plants. RIVER NILE CRUISE

The Nile is the longest river in the world, stretching north for approximately 4,000 miles from East Africa to the Mediterranean. Studies have shown that the River (Iteru, meaning, simply, River, as the Egyptians called it) gradually changed its location and size over millions of years. The Nile flows from the mountains in the south to the Mediterranean in the north. Egyptians traveling to other lands would comment on the "wrong" flow of other rivers. For example, a text of Tuthmosis I in Nubia describes the great Euphrates river as the "inverted water that goes downstream in going upstream."
Three rivers flowed into the Nile from the south and thus served as its sources: the Blue Nile, the White Nile and the Arbara. Within the southern section between Aswan and Khartoum, land which was called Nubia, the River passes through formations of hard igneous rock, resulting in a series of rapids, or cataracts, which form a natural boundary to the south. Between the first and second cataracts lay Lower Nubia, and between the second and sixth cataracts lay upper Nubia.

Cruising the Nile is a popular way of visiting upper Egypt. The Nile River has been Egypt’s lifeline since ancient times and there is no better way to trace the passage of Egypt’s history than to follow the course of the Nile. Almost all Egyptian cruise ships travel the Luxor-Aswan route which is safe, scenic and terminates at two of Egypt’s most important towns. Taking a Felucca down the Nile is an adventurous option. Feluccas are sail boats that have been used on the Nile since antiquity. A Felucca is not quite as comfortable as a luxury cruise ship but nothing can beat sailing in a quiet rig that was designed thousands of years ago.

DAHAB

Dahab is located some 85 km (53 miles) north of Sharm el-Sheikh on the Gulf of Aqaba, near the southern tip of Sinai. Once an isolated coastal village, Dahab turned into a hippie hangout in the 1980′s and became something of an “alternative resort”, mixing cheap accommodation with a laid back lifestyle. Activities such as wind surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving and camel safaris, jeep safaris, water sport, trips make it one of the most
popular destinations along the Red Sea.

If it's total rest and relaxation you're after, holidays in Dahab are just the ticket. With its sleepy, relaxed way of life, this little gem attracts visitors from all around the globe. From the stunning mountains, to the superb diving opportunities, it's no wonder people come back to Dahab time and time again.

It's no surprise that Dahab, meaning 'gold' in Arabic, takes its name from the glittering beaches that stretch along the coastline. If it's lazy, sun-drenched holidays you crave, this is the place to be. Originally a Bedouin fishing village, today these shores are world-renowned for its diving and particularly windsurfing, due to reliable winds and flat water conditions.

MOSQUE OF IBN TULUN

Built between 876 and 879 AD, the Mosque of Ibn Tulun is one of the oldest mosques in Cairo. It was commissioned by Ahmad ibn Ţūlūn, the Abbassid governor of Egypt. The mosque is constructed around a courtyard, with one covered hall on each of the four sides. The minaret, which features a helical outer staircase similar to that of the famous minaret in Samarra, was probably built several centuries later. Parts of the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me were filmed at the Mosque of Ibn Tulun.

The mosque is surrounded by an enclosure that measures 118 x 138 meters (387 x 453 feet). Surrounding the mosque on three sides (all but the qibla side) are narrow enclosed wings called ziyadas, and the mosque's famous minaret with its external spiral ramp is located within the northern ziyada. These small outer courtyards were an extension to insure privacy and separate the sanctified space from the public space of the outside world. They measure about 19 meters in width, and bring the mosque as a whole almost to an exact square shape. Both the enclosure walls and the walls of the ziyada are surmounted by a unique crenellation, a fortified parapet with alternate solid parts and openings, that is probably also of Samarra influence. However, the walls lack the heavy external buttresses and so were probably built strictly as a decorative motif. Rather, the single row of large windows with circular openings on the upper registers of the walls, the frieze of simple square frames and the decorative crenellation seem almost delicate.

LAKE TOBA

Lake Toba in Sumatra, Indonesia, is the world's largest volcanic lake, and also one of the best places in Asia to chill out for a few days or longer. There may not be an abundance of things to do at Lake Toba, but the atmosphere is so pleasant that you probably won't even notice! Motorbike or private car is the best way to visit several small sites in one day.
Pulau Samosir, a newly formed island inside the lake, is blessed with great scenery, friendly locals
and a pleasant vibe.

Lake Toba on the island of Sumatra is an immense volcanic lake about 100 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide. Formed by a gigantic volcanic eruption some 70,000 years ago, it is the largest resurgent caldera on Earth. Genetic estimates suggests that there were only a few thousand humans that survived the catastrophe. The island in the middle – Pulau Samosir – is the largest island within an island and contains two lakes. Besides visiting “a lake on an island within a lake on an island” tourist also come here to kick back and relax and swim in the volcanically warmed waters.

MOUNT BROMO

Gunung Bromo is  located some 4 hours drive from Surabaya, the capital of East Java, Mount Bromo is a part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park that covers a massive area of 800 square kilometres. While it may be small when measured against other volcanoes in Indonesia, the magnificent Mt Bromo will not disappoint with its spectacular views and dramatic landscapes. At 2392 meters tall, Mt Bromo is not among the tallest of Indonesia’s mountains but its stunning beauty lies in its incredible setting.
From a vantage point on Mount Penanjakan (2,770 meters above sea level), 2.5 hours from Malang. visitors from around the world come to see the sunrise over Mt Bromo. From this spot the vista is magnificent. All you will hear is the click of cameras as visitors snap their camera’s hoping to capture the incredible scene of Mt Bromo in the foreground with Mt Semeru smoking in the distance and the sun shining brightly, quickly rising in the sky.
The eerie landscape has spurned countless legends and myths. Mt Bromo has particular significance for the Tengger people who believe that this was the site where a brave prince sacrificed his life for his family. The people here appease the Gods once a year during the annual Kasada festival where offerings of vegetables, chickens and money are thrown into the crater of the volcano.an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java. At 2,329 meters (7,641 feet) it is not the highest peak of the massif, but it is the most well known. The area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Indonesia and Java. The top of the volcano has been blown off and the crater inside constantly belches white smoke. It is surrounded by the Sea of Sand of fine volcanic sand. The overall effect is unsettlingly unearthly.

GILI ISLAND

GILI AIR
GILI TRAWANGAN
GILI ISLAND

Lombok’s most popular tourist destination, the Gili Islands are an archipelago of three small islands: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. The islands are very relaxed and laid-back, with countless little beachside cafes still playing reggae and no cars or motorbikes to disturb the peace. Note that the name “Gili Islands” is rather redundant as gili simply means “small island” in Sasak and there are many other islands around the coast of Lombok with Gili in their names.

Gili Air is the closest to the mainland, with plenty of stylish bungalows dotted among the palms. Mellow Gili Meno, the middle island, makes for a wonderful chilled-out retreat.
Gili Trawangan (population 800), the furthest out, has been tagged as the ‘party island’. And with three weekly parties and a groovy collection of beach bars, you can get loose here.

KUALA WOH JUNGLE PARK

Situated about 13km from Tapah, on the way to Cameron Highlands, Kuala Woh presents a natural backdrop for fun- seekers to swim, picnic and fish. Interesting features include the natural hot-water pool, various waterfalls and Tebing Merbau. Orang asli, or aborigines, live in this area, according to their traditional way of life. They are friendly but shy by nature.
Besides Lata iskandar and Kuala Woh, there are two other waterfalls sites which are quite popular: the Ulu Kinta Waterfalls, 16km from lpoh, and Batu Hampar near Taiping.

TERENGGANU STATE MUSEUM

Acclaimed as the largest of its kind in Malaysia, the Terengganu State Museum houses century old artifacts and artworks of rich and colourful heritage. Located on 27 hectares of land in Bukit Losong, Kuala Terengganu, the complex itself is an impressive architectural feature, based on the ancient Terengganu palace designs and architectures. The complex’s many galleries showcase textiles, historical artifacts, crafts, royal regalia, Islamic arts, contemporary arts, weapons, petroleum development, historical, sea faring trade, fisheries and marine galleries.
Herbs and botanic garden is well-maintained in the vicinity of the museum. At the main entrance, the original Arabic Jawi text inscription of Islamic religious decree Inscribed Stone or “Batu Bersurat” of Terengganu is prominently displayed, which proves the earliest acceptance of Islamic teachings in the Malay Peninsula. The maritime complex, the restored original old palaces and traditional boats used by sea-faring locals are also prominently displayed in the compound

Inside the museum the displays are arranged in nine galleries. The contents do not quite live up to the promise of the exterior in my view and there is quite a lot of empty space to be filled but there is still plenty worth seeing.

The 9 galleries are;

- Natural History Gallery. Exhibits include rocks and minerals such as gold, iron ore and coal, specimens of flora and fauna found in the state (stuffed tigers, monkeys, bears and more) and displays of local insects, fish, skeletons and so on.

- Textile Gallery. This gallery explains the production process of locally made textiles and displays examples of traditional garments worn at weddings and other ceremonial occasions and the everyday clothing of yesteryear.

- Royal Gallery. This gallery provides a historical family tree of the Terengganu royal family and showcases royal paraphernalia, royal krises, palace household items like crockery sets, medals and gifts received from abroad and locally.

- Craft Gallery. You can see local traditional handicrafts here such as brass making, weaving, gold and silver ornaments and weapons, especially krises.

- Petroleum Gallery. This is a mini version of the Petronas Museum in KLCC and it is appropriate to have this exhibition in Terengganu since much of Malaysia's oil is found here.

- Islamic Gallery. This gallery relates the arrival of Islam in the Malay Peninsula and specifically the state of Terengganu. Manuscripts and ceramics are on display as well as pictures of the architectural styles of various mosques in the state.

- Historical Gallery. Here you can trace human development in the region from pre-historic times up to the present time. Pottery and coins are among the exhibits.

The remaining two galleries are in the grounds of the museum away from the main buildings:

- Seafaring & Trade Gallery. Located alongside the Terengganu River, this wooden construction has been handcrafted in traditional style and features two life-sized sailing boats among the many maritime displays.

- Fisheries & Marine Gallery. This is an attempt to recreate the atmosphere of a fishing village and exhibits include traditional fishing equipment and boats.

Elsewhere in the sprawling grounds of the museum you can find some typical wooden Terengganu houses of olden times including the Istana Tengku Long.

I CITY

Selangor bears the scars of more than 100 years of development. Tin mining has left its mark but many of the resulting excavations have been converted into lakes for recreational or other uses. In much of the state, there is little trace of the original primary rain forest which was cleared long ago, firstly for rubber plantations which have since been replaced by oil palms or for development.

However it is still a very green state with plenty of parks and forest reserves and, along its eastern fringe there are still huge swathes of jungle covered hills to explore and enjoy.

I-City is to be one of the most popular family attractions in Malaysia. You can cool off in Snowalk, an indoor snow park with ice houses, snowmen and a mini-bobsled run, while outdoors is a fantasy forest of digital lights which is really spectacular. Recent additions include a big wheel and other fairground rides.

There are plentiful signage that will lead you to i-City, The City of Digital Lights where rows and rows of colourful trees and creatures (swans, giraffes, peacocks, etc) are artistically arranged in the form of an enchanting forest.

The place is a playground for families and children who will be bedazzled by the surreal LED-lighted sculptures and trees.  Photography buffs swarm the area as well, making full use of their dSLR lenses’ low-light capabilities.  Apart from that, there are fun fair stalls and other stalls offering knick-knacks, as well as eateries such as steamboat for those who want to have their dinner there.

GENTING HINGLANDS

Genting
INDOOR THEME PARK

OUTDOOR THEME PARK
Genting Highlands was founded by Lim Goh Tong, who arrived at the shores of Malaysia from Fujian, in 1937. Born in 1918, Lim was a young man, only a lowly carpenter while he picked up the local Malay language. For the next few years, he dabbled in vegetable farming and petty trading, but eventually involved himself in the scrap metal and heavy machinery business. It was through this industry that Lim finally made it rich. The end of World War II signalled rapid development in Malaysia, fueling the demand for Lim's stock of second hand equipment for tin mining and rubber plantations. From there, he ventured into iron mining and then, construction.

Genting Highlands has a cooling climate between 20°C to 25°C during the day and 15°C to 20°C during the night. Misty weather is a prevalent element and thunder storms are frequent towards the year end. However, you can visit Genting Highlands anytime, as the roads up are made of sturdy construction that resist most landslides. If you prefer a dry holiday, the best time to come here would lie between March and September when the rainfall is generally least. Be sure to wear some thick clothing at night if you're susceptible to cold. The mist around the peak can obscure panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur city and the landscape below, so the best time for a view is usually the early morning or late evenings. Finally, low peak seasons are the best time for cheaper accommodation rates and smaller crowds.

In addition, Some of the attractions are Corkscrew, Astro Fighter, Cyclone, Flying Coaster, Dinosaur Land, Flying Dragon, Turbo Drop, Gun Simulator, Rolling Thunder Mine Train, Grand Prix Fan Kart and many more.

LANGKAWI ISLAND

Langkawi was traditionally thought to be cursed. However, in 1986 then prime minister mahathir mohamad decided to transform it into a tourist resort, helping to plan many of the islands buildings himself.
Langkawi, a cluster of 99 islands separated from mainland malaysia by the straits of malacca, is a district of the state of kedah in northern malaysia and lies approximately 51
km west of kedah.
The total land mass of the islands is 47,848 hectares, while the main island of langkawi itself has a total of 32,000 hectares. The main island spans about 25 km from north to south and slightly more for east and west. The coastal areas consist of flat, alluvial plains punctuated with limestone ridges. Two-thirds of the island is dominated by forest-covered mountains, hills and natural vegetation.
In addition, in Langkawi Island there are many attraction destination which visitors or tourist can travel. For example, Air Hangat Village, Atma Alam Batik Village, Beras Basah Island, Buffalo Park, Cenang Beach, Dataran Lang, Gunung Mat Cincang, Mahsuri Tomb and others.
